MECHANICS AND MATERIALS DEVELOPMENT DIVISION

With a broad spectrum of research activities, the Division of Mechanics and Materials Development (DMDM) is dedicated to addressing key scientific and industrial challenges. The division aims to deliver research that drives innovation and enhances industrial performance.

The DMDM’s mission is to develop and optimize advanced metallic materials through comprehensive analysis, experimental investigation, and modeling. Its research focuses particularly on:

-   Texture–microstructure–property relationships, to understand and tailor material performance.

-    Tribological and thermomechanical behavior of materials in demanding industrial environments.

-      Modern welding and metallurgical processes, including advanced joining, hardfacing and repair technologies.

Through its integrated approach combining experimentation, modeling, and innovation, the DMDM contributes to the development of next-generation materials and technologies for sustainable industrial advancement.
