SIGNAL PROCESSING AND IMAGERY DIVISION

The mission of this division is to develop and implement signal and image processing-based techniques to be applied in the nondestructive testing (NDT) field. In particular, its objectives are the development of systems permitting the automatic acquisition of one-dimensional or multidimensional signals, their processing, as well as their visualization or the reconstruction of 2D or 3D images and finally, their interpretation using image analysis and pattern recognition.
The developed themes are:
• Processing techniques applied to NDT methods.
• Ultrasound and x-rays.
• Automation of NDT methods.
• Artificial intelligence in NDT.
• Advanced techniques in NDT.......
• Tomography, guided waves and acoustic emission.
The division also carries out research and development (R&D) and technological innovation activities, specializing in embedded systems techniques combined with Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms.
The topics addressed include the design and implementation of electronic platforms based on FPGA boards, Raspberry boards, and other microcontrollers.
The applications are diverse and include:
The development of a mobile robot for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection of pipelines.
The design of a system for the acquisition and processing of acoustic emission signals.
The development of software applied to digital radiographic inspection, among others.
Other applied works in the agricultural field are also addressed by proposing a data acquisition station for meteorological conditions and land status, as well as the processing of this data.
