DIVISION OF WELDING AND ASSEMBLY TECHNIQUES

The Division of Welding and Assembly Techniques aims to develop technological innovations that enhance the role of welding within manufacturing sectors. The division’s research orientations encompass a broad spectrum, ranging from arc initiation, arc diagnostics, and welding process control, to the investigation of the fundamental phenomena governing metal fusion and solidification. These studies rely on several stages of automation and synergistic analysis, which are essential for a deeper understanding of welding processes.

Research activities also focus on the synergy of thermal and diffusive mechanisms to improve electrode durability and efficiency, the interaction between energy sources and metallic materials, and the diagnostics of arc and cold plasmas.

In addition, the division explores the applications of speed and frequency drive control in electric motors, as well as the optimization of lithium-ion battery management systems (BMS), contributing to advances in sustainable mobility and energy efficiency technologies.

The main research themes of the Division of Welding and Assembly Techniques include:
• Optometry and plasma techniques
• Phenomena in the vicinity of electrodes
• Control systems and electric command
• Physicochemical aspects of welds
• Sustainable mobility and associated technologies
