Metallic materials have an extraordinary future ahead of them as they exhibit very desirable physical, chemical and mechanical properties in all areas. Looking at the growing interest in eco-design and sustainable development, they will undoubtedly create the materials of tomorrow, particularly because of their high recyclability and durability. This research project focuses on the manufacture of a new advanced high strength steel AHSS (Advanced High Strength Steel). Indeed, the development of a new process/new technique for producing 3rd generation Medium Mn Steel AHSS steels combining hot forging and intercritical annealing will be presented. The combination of hot forging and intercritical annealing improves mechanical properties and minimizes deformation defects. In addition, the advantage of this process compared to the conventional one is that the intercritical annealing treatment ensures the resistance-ductility characteristic and also a reasonable manufacturing cost. The goal in this project is to achieve the optimum strength/ductility combination by increasing the product (maximum strength X maximum elongation). Therefore, this new process can provide a new guide for the development of a new technology for the lower cost manufacturing of AHSS Medium Mn Steels.
