Use of local minerals for the development of an eco-cement with low environmental impact
Cement production, an essential material in construction industry, is one of the major sources of global carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions and energy consumption. In this context, finding solutions to reduce the environmental effects of this industry has become a critical priority. Therefore, reducing the clinker content in cement through the incorporation of mineral additions is essential. This project investigates the use of feldspar as a mineral additive to partially replace clinker, with the aim of producing a more sustainable and environmentally friendly cement. Feldspar, a widely abundant group of minerals, exhibits chemical and mineralogical properties that make it a promising alternative to mitigate the environmental impacts associated with cement production. Consequently, this approach could play a significant role in the transition toward more sustainable and eco-friendly construction materials.
