The research activities of this team aim to contribute to a better understanding of the interactions between ultrasonic waves and materials principally laminated composite. Thus, to study the feasibility of detecting, localizing, and quantifying damage (impact damage, delamination, and debonding) using applied approaches and methods.

These methods can be divided into two categories: discrete monitoring methods, which determine the health of structures at a specific time, and continuous integrated monitoring methods (SHM), which monitor the health of a structure during mechanical loading, such as tension and DCB.

Particular attention will be paid to the use of guided waves (Lamb waves), which have the advantage of propagating over long distances and large inspection areas, and subsurface waves, whose penetration depth can be modulated depending on the inspection conditions.
