Mechanical and Tribological Behavior of Structures Under Severe Loading Conditions

Dr. Amine Brick-Chaouch · 9/9/2025

This project explores the mechanical and tribological behavior of engineered structures under extreme conditions, uncovering how they deform, fracture, and adapt. From the microscopic cracks born during manufacturing to large-scale failures under severe stress, every flaw tells a story about resilience and design.

Bridging nonlinear finite element analysis with multi-objective optimization, the research aims to rethink how structures are conceived — balancing strength, weight, safety, and sustainability in a single, evolving equation. Beyond static loads and predictable fatigue, it seeks to understand the unpredictable: the true behavior of matter when pushed to its breaking point.

At the crossroads of mechanics and design innovation, this study challenges one question: how can we engineer structures that not only endure but learn from the forces that test them?
