Study of the Synergy between Thermal and Diffusive Mechanisms to Improve the Durability and Efficiency of Tungsten Electrodes in Welding.

The arc plasma serves as a fundamental heat source in manufacturing processes such as TIG welding, where its properties are strongly influenced by the thermal behavior of the cathode tip. This project addresses the challenges associated with the use of tungsten electrodes in TIG welding. Although these electrodes are essential to ensuring high-quality welds, their performance is often hindered by the non-uniform evaporation of oxides, leading to a decrease in overall efficiency. The main challenge is to uphold a careful equilibrium between oxide migration and evaporation, as any disparity may interfere with arc stability and, in turn, lower the quality of the welds produced.
