Evaluation of materials under stress using optical and magnetic techniques
This team focuses on characterizing various types of materials subjected to different forms of stress (mechanical, thermal, etc.) using optical and magnetic techniques.
During their service life, materials experience damage that can compromise their performance and reliability. For safety and cost-effectiveness reasons, it is essential to monitor their fatigue, aging, and degradation.
The optical and magnetic methods employed belong to the family of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, such as Eddy Current testing, Barkhausen noise analysis, and Vibrational Spectroscopy…. These techniques rely on analyzing the interactions between electromagnetic waves and the intrinsic properties of materials.
The use of such methods ensures compliance with health and safety standards while providing precise information about a material’s properties and the stress states induced by manufacturing or operational processes.
